Osceola, IA has two man-made lakes/ponds with railroad connections. On the north side of town, there is Q-Pond. On the south side of town, there is Grade Lake. The Des Moines, Osceola & Southern-Des Moines & Kansas City, Keokuk & Western- Chicago, Burlington & Quincy grade made the damn for Grade Lake. On the northwest corner of Promise City, IA there is a large pond that I believe was constructed by the Q or a predecessor.Predecessor roads would have been either the MI&N or the K&W.
