Norm and RunExtra - "Powerful thirsty" the operator might've been in
that much simpler era.... Wonder if the Indians were members of the
Sioux Tribe? Thanks for identifying where Ardmore was/is. Also wonder what the
ruling grade in that vicinity was to have required a 0-10-0 for a helper? The
Corbin book says the L-1 Class locomotives were built for use on the grade
between Pacific Junction, IA, and Plattsmouth, NE. Since Ardmore is a good
distance from Plattsmouth, the 590 did roam west over its service
life. Does anyone have an image of 590 with or without Indians to share? In any
event, what an interesting and unusual Train Order! Best Regards -

It is my opinion that the operator was powerful thirsty and just
wanted to go get a beer at the local establishment (Ardmore wasn't and isn't
much) . So he made up some tale of Injuns and told the dispatcher he had to
leave in a hurry :-)
