Rupert and Archie,

Gregg, listed in the 1888 TT was and is now Westmont and East Grove, also shown on the 1888 TT, was later renamed Fairview Avenue as it is today. Both are regular stops for some trains. There was also a station north of Aurora called Nifa (Northern Illinois Fair Association) which may have showed up on some TTs. Some trains went to Nifa for horse racing attendees. When I was young (long time ago) if you paid your fare on the train (as opposed to purchasing a ticket at the depot) the conductor or collector would give you a receipt that had all of the stations listed on it including Nifa. The conductor punched the two stations you were traveling between. As I understand it, trains only operated to Nifa when activities were going on there. I do not know how people going to a Nifa event, knew which train to take and when. BTW, the fairgrounds still exist, but there is no train service and the tracks may be gone. Possibly, someone else knows that part of the story.
