I've always wondered why the last rear porthole on only the Engineer's side of CB&Q E8 and E9 locomotives was either painted or plated over, I suppose sometime after delivery.  One story I heard was because the toilet was located in that vicinity.  If this has been answered before, please direct me to that thread, thanks.
