Most likely handled in a similar manner to the diner  at Oregon,IL. At Oregon there was a little short track between the main and the Mt Morris main, just a little west of the depot that was called the dining car trk. (It was just long enough to hold a dining car)between the westbound evening movement and the eastbound morning move.

At Rochelle this probably took place on the Kennedy track which was directly opposite the depot off of main track 2.

The Wisconsin was an observation car so it would interesting to see how it was handled at Rochelle.

According to Locomotive Engineer 1897 volume 10, ‘it is a train of six of the handsomest passenger cars ever placed in commission’ – combined baggage/buffet/smoking car, chair car, compartment car, standard sleeping car and a dining car, but no names shown

The Railroad Car Journal volume 6 of September 1897 also has a description of the train, but only shows the five names and functions for one of the trains – St Paul (composite car), Parthenon (straight sleeper), Apollo (compartment car), Alma (chair car) and Winona (day coach).

Durbin’s notes that the diner (café-parlor Wisconsin) only operated between Chicago and Rochelle, serving dinner in the evening westbound, and breakfast in the morning on the return to Chicago, so there were just five cars in each train and one shared diner.
