OK, I understand it, there were no GP-40's on the FW&D, and I was aware of the differences in the mergers of the C&S and FW&D into the CB&Q/BN all being on different dates. We/I also now know there were FW&D GP-38-2's. With all that being revisited it must have been the GP38-2s I saw back in the 70s and early 80s rather than the non-existent GP40's. A huge thanks to those who sent the photos, to me it was a definite"blast from the past" and memories of the great times I had railfanning when I lived in Colorado Springs. Things were different in those days! One day while my wife and I were photographing a coal train in the hole south of the Springs the engineer waved us over to the locomotives. To my amazement he invited us up into the cab. (picture my hottie wife climbing into the cab in short skirt) He then explained the complete control system used to operate his mid train slaves. After friendly railfan talk, (he was a foamer as well) we bid farewell. I have no doubt that if I had been alone I may never have been invited up the the cab. Sorry for the diversion, anyway I am wondering who in the Society is responsible for correcting the rosters??? When can it get done?? I guess technically Society being a CB&Q Historical Society and the fact there were no GP-38-2's ever on the CB&Q means they should not be included in the rosters at all since the FW&D outlived the Q. The GP-40's should be removed from the roster since there were never any owned by the Q or C&S or FW&D. Should there be separate C&S and FW&D rosters listed by the Society?? How would we best (or should we)reflect existence of the FW&D GP38-2's? Thanks again for all those great responses and photos.
