The first GP38-2 was built in January 1972, nearly two years after the BN merger. 

The roster in the BN 1971 Motive Power Annual lists none of the merged locos as GP38, jumping instead from GP35 to GP40.

Norm in a separate message let me know that there were FWD sub lettered GP38-2s.  This series of responses indicates that the GP 40's listed in the Society roster as being FW&D were never FW&D.  The society rosters don't show any GP-38 of any kind that I can find.

It would seem the society rosters made by Rupert and Brian for the CB&Q are very incorrect with respect to the above mentioned units!!!

Hol, can you comment on this situation?

I am thinking if there are errors we should get things corrected for the historical record
