They were all delivered in the red and gray scheme Bill.
Pretty much used all over the system. I have seen photos of them from Chicago
to Denver and all points in between.

Here's a couple of nice shots of the 634:

This is where it can get confusing! In preparation for the BN merger, the Q
painted GP40 629 in the green, black and white "hockey stick" scheme that would
later appear on the SD45s. It was rolled out August 2, 1968. Had Burlington
Northern and logo on the cab sides to boot! The enthusiam was short lived
because the courts would stay the merger until the official 1970 date. Because
of this, the "Northern" was removed.

This is a post BN merger shot (1973) but is otherwise unchanged from the 1968
scheme.

I do have a few downloaded shots of the 629 freshly painted at the W.
Burlington IA, but I'm reluctant to post them because I don't know who the
photograper is.

Thanks!
Jeff

These weren't FWD, but rather CBQ.
They were delivered in Feb 1968, on order 7057, bldr #'s 33741-33755 +
33869-33873.

What is the story about these units?  Delivered in 1968 I believe.  They are in
the society rosters I have
seen. How were they painted on delivery?  Red?  Were they sublettered?  Did they
get green paint before or after the merger?  were they sublettered in the
green paint?   Did they run through to
Denver?  How were they used?  Anyone have any images??

Thanks, Bill
