Hi “Q” fans, I was wondering what the “Q” and other tenants used as switch engines for Rochelle and Rockford. Did they use small GP’s or switch engines. I do know the the RR’s that served these two towns would share the duties of switching out the industries. I’ve heard three - four months at a time. Where did they go on/off duty at. Did they use there own depots or did they use a central location and who’s clerk maned that location as far as switch lists or what work was to be preformed. I know in Rochelle you had the “Q”, Milwaukee Road and UP. In Rockford there was the “Q”, Milwaukee Road, UP and ICRR. The other thing I’m looking for is a list of industries/customers for both locations. What commodities were received and shipped and who (RR) serviced them. A few years ago I toured the C&I Sub and photographed what was left. My main focus was bridges, buildings and signals. I have may other questions that concern this line. Any and all info would be helpful.
