I never tried to determine what the oldest CB&Q image is. 

I guess there are a number of factors that work against us….the Chicago Fire 
and the Burlington HQ Bldg Fire being major ones.

A number of years ago I tried to see if the Chicago Historical Society had 
anything but ran into brick walls with their staff.

I don’t know if any of the early professional photography studios work was 
saved.   The Burlington used Hedrich Blessing starting 20s or 30s but had 
earlier firms.  The stereo shots of the Aurora Shops are probably among the 
oldest and I am guessing they date c.1880 based on the two distinct styles of 
waycars present in the photos.
