You guys are all correct...Almost...the name of the department store was  Montgomery Ward...not WardS.

Noel thanks for the reminder of the President of MW being carried out in his chair...I had forgotten about that....I have forgotten his name, but  I think I can find out....Just so YA KNOW...it isn't Montgomery or Ward.

Montgomery Wards aka Monkey Wards . Biggest competitor to Sears. Had really good products. I went through three of their life time car batteries for free. They got tired of seeing me coming. Like all good outfits in the 70' they went down the tube to total mismanagement. A famous picture in Life Magazine in 42 or 43 shows the President of Montgomery Wards being carried out of his office in his chair by soldiers because he refused to work with Roosevelt on the war effort. Had his own way which was probably better.
