Hi all: I took my wife on the annual Spoon River Drive in Western Illinois last weekend. I found that Farmington has a historical society along Rt. 116 just east of downtown. They have a nice display on local coal mining and some railroad information. They are open Wed - Sat 11-4. The coal mines were served by the M&STL and later the C&NW. I also came across the Cuba Historical Society on west side of the Square in Cuba. They have an extensive collection of coal mining and some railroad information. Two doors down is an antique store with some nice local railroad photos. Cuba was originally on the Fulton County Narrow Gauge which the Q widened to access the local coal mines. The Spoon River Drive continues this Sat and Sun 12 & 13. Something to look forward to while your wife/girlfriend shops. Roger Kujawa Morton, IL. ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
