Thanks to the comment by Duncan, looking back on this I see I need to make a correction. I wrote that 181457 would be an HC-1B. I meant to say renumbering the car to 181567 would be an HC-1B number, some of which were painted black. Renumbering the Bowser car from 181467 to car number 181457 would still be an HC-1A, as is the car photographed on page 58 in a black paint scheme. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused with my sloppy numbering. On Sun, Aug 4, 2013 at 3:00 PM, Scott Myers <myers.scottv@gmail.com> wrote:
I recently purchased one of the Bowser kits that Dave is using as the basis for his custom painted kits. To my disappointment, although numbered 181467 as an HC-1A, it is painted black, not mineral red. Per BB#20, some of the HC-1Bs were painted in the color scheme used by Bowser, but not any HC-1As. (Bowser has several other road numbers as I recall, but I don't know if they are also misnumbered for the car's proper paint scheme). Per his email below, Dave is correctly painting his kits in mineral red.
