Charlie
I found another piece in volume 1 of Baldwin’s 1928 Corporate History
(which I’ve sent to Leo)
The property of the company consists of approximately
twenty-nine acres of land in the South Chicago Dock Company's Addition, south
of One Hundredth Street, in the town of Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois,
purchased by the company from the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Company
by deed dated February 16, 1917, recorded in Book 14,333, page 5GG, of the Deed
Records of said Cook County, which land is occupied with main and side tracks
approximately 53,542 feet in length, together with roundhouse and other
appurtenances.
The tracks owned by the
company are operated as side and terminal tracks and terminal property of the
Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company, which owns all of the
capital stock of this company, and is also part owner of The Belt Railway
Company of Chicago, whose tracks form a connection between the roads of said
companies.
which confirms the existence of the roundhouse,
etc. The book also shows the agreements with other companies relating to
the BSCTR.
Would the Sanborn maps show the structures on the property?
We will, of course, expect you to maintain your daily presence on this List and
not to give priority to minor things like moving into the new house!

Rupert-
Somewhere in my
packed “stuff” I have a drawing of the property. I
don’t recall any structures or engine facilities.
We’re finally
moving into our new house a week from today, so soon I’ll be able to
start pulling up information!!
Great find!
