Noel...I
wondered if what you wrote about the KC&O being
actually being built by St. J and GI might be so..but
had never heard it for sure. Thanks for providing that
detail...
Speaking of "junk yard"...the former Wilcox depot
is...or was some years ago located in a junk yard at
Wilcox...
The depot from Burress is located off site in the
Manning Grain Company complex..Well preserved and in use
as their office.

Pete,
Not really mislabeled. St.J&GI was a
UP subsidiary who built the line
originally and turned it into the KC&O
almost immediately after it was completed.
The Q did acquire it in 1907. I know knit
picking but what the hey. I am very glad
to see the McCool Junction depot has been
preserved. Even has a BN green way car.
Spring Ranch needs help. Starting from
Benedict Neb to McCool Junction, to
Lushton, Spring Ranch, Roseland and Alma
were originally built by St.J &GI/UP
and that is why they all look like early
UP buildings. I have a CD in this junk
yard of many of the Q depots made several
years ago. My CD drive is down, but when I
can get it fixed will see if I can post
it.
