Pete - Thanks for your experiences with motor cars, I once overheard a young railfan refer to the motor cars as "box cab" diesels. I wonder when was 9769 double ended, it was by 1960. I served in the Army 1958-1960 so lost out on things going on, spent 1959-60 working with the Korean Ry. moving supplies (they were still running steam). I did catch a glimpse of 9769 east of Hastings in about 1961 apparently going to Clay Center. I don't remember any of the crew on 15-16.
