Thanks, Nolen, this information gives me another local to run out of Burlington.

There’s one other question I have about switchers assigned to Burlington. I know that NW-2s ran to Washington, but none were assigned according to the 1952 list. I have photos of 9219, 9232, 9240, and 9246 in Washington or on the branch line in the early 1950s. Were the NW-2s considered road switchers and assigned separately? I have photos of a GP-7 in Washington in the early 1950s, so I know that road switchers occasionally made the run.

Nelson,

I don't know it for fact but surmise the key lies in the assignment listed on the 3/6/52 assignment sheet for 9135 "Galesburg -Galva-New Boston".  I'm thinking the routing would have been Burlington-Oquawka-Keithsburg-New Boston(all on the river) and then eastward Aledo-Alpha-Galva.  Generally speaking Galesburg would have been on the hypotenuse of the triangle, and hence bypassed.

I was surprised to see 9135 assigned to Burlington-Galva. That sees strange, since Galesburg is about half way between the two. Can anyone explain this assignment?
