Contacting EMD or GE is a waste of time, both companies hate model railroaders and the CB&Q paint codes are available as I have them all. 

 

The info that I got was that the NS did not go through EMD or GE they contacted historical societys and people like me who research railroad colors. I'm sure some of these codes that the NS got were Duco or Dulux which are lead base paints that are no longer used or made so all these codes had to be re done into Imron paint that is used today. I find it strange that the NS paint crews would as you say ?shoot from the hip? to paint some of these locos as Dupont and I both have all of the paint codes for these railroads as well as most of the historical societys. 

 

I made all the CB&Q colors in MODELflex paint, these colors were matched to my Dupont paint samples and then lighten to scale. Here is a list of our paints that are available.

16-153 CB&Q Chinese Red

16-154 CB&Q Gray (For Red and Gray Locos)

16-193 CB&Q Imitation Aluminum

16-194 CB&Q Red

1602-105 CB&Q Black Bird Gray (Limited run paint color, only available in 4oz bottle)

Wouldn?t the BRHS be able to contact EMD, as they would have the records for the proper paint codes? Look at the recent NS ?Heritage Fleet?. The NS talked to both EMD and GE for paint codes for these heritage units, the railroads that actually were customers of EMD and/or GE. About ½ of the railroads the NS crews had to ?shoot from the hip? as some of the predecessor roads were neither EMD or GE customers. I am not trying to sound ?off topic?, but just making a suggestion here??
