There is a book entitled "Night Trains"...came out several years ago..It tells you everything you would ever want to know about the operation of the Pullman Company and its equipment on the various railroads.

Bob

Presumably there was a contract between Pullman and the railroad to provide certain types of equipment for a specified period, with conditions relating to maintenance, etc. Would the equipment be collected from Pullman or did Pullman arrange delivery to the road? Would Pullman inspect the equipment periodically to ensure it was being maintained correctly?

No apologies necessary, certainly not to me.     This is a term that crept in and is hard to weed out (in this context).

And, just like "roof walks" "Harriman roof" and a few other phrases and terms, it gets harder and harder to ensure the correct use is utilized.
