Thanks, Hol. I would have to concur with your assessment, barring photo
evidence to the contrary.
I was thumbing through Mike Spoor's four volume set and discovered that he
states in the middle caption on p.24 of his second volume that the boilers were
removed, and the units were repainted, in 1955, but there are several published
photos that show them in passenger livery after reassignment. Again, the cover
photo on Al's book is dated 1957 and it sure appears that the rooftop boiler
venting is still in place.
As always, Hol, you are an encyclopedia of knowledge of all things Q. Thanks
