I do recall a back-up move from the coach yard to CUS about 1970 with Chicago
Division engineer "Rags" and tail-gunner "Boots" where we departed the yard
with a one-piece tail hose and arrived CUS with a two-piece device. "Boots"
asked "Rags" if he could place the "evidence" in the engine room. I asked
"Rags" why he shoved so hard and his response was, "It's HIS responsibility to
control the back-up move.". Sure seemed assinine to me back then. No "cigar"
from the Station Master, either!
