Glad to hear that they were used as intended afterall. I thank the idea that they were not used in passenger service was based on the fact that most if not the mail trains were gone before they arrived. But the Q hadn't lost the traffic of the forth class bulk mail until after the merger.

In Karl Zimmermann's Burlington's Zephyrs on page 150-151, there is a picture of the Nebraska Zephyr with 3 of those Flexivan cars.

The Flexivans offered by Walthers are based on CB&Q prototypes. They were equipped with steam and signal lines for use on passenger trains but were never used as such. As a matter of fact they were not used in any service for long.
