I can't beleive a Q fan would ask about Budd and Murphy! But since you asked they were two of the most important presidents of the railroad. Tradtionally outlaying sidings are named for families in the area, local industries, local geographic features or railroad officals.

I have often wondered how sidings got their name on the CB&Q. I live close to Savanna and there is Burke Siding east of town and Ebner Siding south of Thomson. Up around East Dubuque there is Murphy and Budd. Does anyone know the history of the naming of these sites?

Thanks!
Bob Krueger
