Ken,
That's interesting as I've got a CB&Q drawing that indicates the lightning hit 
an difre that resulted in the roof being chopped down was in 1937.  Do you 
hapen to remember the source of your info?  I'm trying to pin things down both 
for my own info and to help the folks in Keokuk who are working on restoring 
the depot and have a website up about it.

  I don' t know when the MTZ got the raised headlight but I believe the 
  tower was cut down in 1955.
