I've come across numerous notes and articles about the Q's leadership in the 
use of reinforced concrete, including bridge road beds, 
culverts and coaling stations.  There's a nice piece  at

regarding the construction of the Platte River bridge at Yutan and showing a 
concrete mixer mounted on an FM-8 flat car.
