riding same for obvious reasons

and ditto for Edgemont-Lead/Deadwood and the Burlington-Winfield/Washington
branches to name a couple more. A great Zephyr or even BB article on Q mixed
service could be a reality if enough mbrs respond with photos, old tickets,
ancedotes, etc. 'Mixed' service goes back into late 1800's as even then some
lines no longer had enough traffic to justify a dedicated passenger train inc.
the original Aurora branch to West Chicago.

The Herrin-Metropolis Local (way freight) was authorized to carry passengers
until the BN merger.

CB&Q public TT's listed Mixed trains into mid-60's (can ck exact date) and in
reality some operated beyond that.

I've recently come across a 1959 Official Guide that lists Mixed Train
Service, Consult Agent for Details on the line. Anyone have some later
Guides or ETTs to indicate how long this lasted?

train with an E unit and 4-5 heavyweight cars...41-90 was the Pioneer
Zephyr which operated Lincoln-St. Joe via Tecumseh leaving Lincoln
12:15am St. Joe 4:00am or so...Left St. Joe around noon arriving Wymore
about 2:00pm and Lincoln around 3:30pm so his would have been about
right for after school transportation from Beatrice to Hoag.

Lincoln around 4:00am with a big setout for Crete and Wymore mid morning
to noon. CF about 8:00pm at Wymore with pickups at Hoag and Beatrice and
an all night switching session at Crete.
