Bud:
I would be curious to see how the CGW showed their connection, specifically if
they showed the Q's Galena Branch crossing their main on a diamond before their
main tied into the Q main. The older Q station maps show the Galena Branch
crossing the CGW on either a diamond or movable crossing frogs, shortly after
leaving the WB and before the depot.

Paul, Duncan and group. Recently a member of the CGW historical group sent me
track charts from the CGW that indicated how their tracks tied into ours at
Galena and at Portage. It was quite different than I had expected. If anyone
is interested in a copy on these let me know.

Duncan:
Gerald may have covered this. But in direct response to your question, Galena
Jct. was about 15 miles north of Savanna on the Illinois side of the
Mississippi, and just south of the Galena (nee Fever) River. Just north of the
Galena River the Burlington joined and had trackage rights over the IC
northward
to East Dubuque. Just south of the the Junction, CGW had trackage rights on
Burlington ROW for a short distance.
Hope you can help with photos? or depot drawings? Thanks!
Regards,
Paul
