Another point on the sheep yard lead. Road crews didnt spot stock because of the delay that it would involve as it's quite a long move from the clearance point on the lead at the mains all the way down to the chutes. If one had ever been told to do so by the 1970s,because of short time on the stock, it would have been the last one. I often wondered what held the Sheep yard lead in guage. Much of the ballast was cinders.The ties were very bad and the rail was some of the thinnest I ever put cars onto. I used to think a road unit would be on the ground if it went more than 8-10 car lengths west of the board.
