Federal barge Lines ties to Q & other RR's would be a good article. As you
note, they are listed in the ORER (Official Equipment Register) and bldg they
used to work with IC & CB&Q in Dbq is still standing with some rusty tracks
extant. RR's still work with barge lines of course as anyone who lives in a
Mississippi river city can attest. And no, did not combine CMO & C&NW as they
were separate entities into the 50's but also as i cautioned, don't go by
Official Guides of any kind. Stay tuned for answers Saturday & award of a "60
Q or C&S TT to someone (and a summary of how many guessed ea RR)

Hi Gerald,
Your question has been working on my brain the past couple days and
as I have seen no replies, I will try to answer.
I pulled out January 1941 ORER and it lists all interchange
points. The Rock Island had the most points at that time. It was
closely followed by the CNW, IC, Milw, Wabash and UP. If the Omaha
and CNW were combined they might have more points than RI. It will
be interesting to see how the ORER compares to your book.
The ORER also list Federal Barge Lines interchanging at several
points. I would believe this was break bulk from RR cars to
barges? wonder if a through rate applied?
