I have a friend who lives 5 miles from Amazonia so posed the question to her.
There is still a waterworks there but also at one time due to springs in the
area, bottled water was sold so the jury is still out as to what the Q was
bringing in and/or taking out. Bringing in chlorine to water treatment plants
is still a RR revenue stream (no pun intended) in some locations. I have a
slide of a prototype Chlorine car, a flat with a dozen tanks running cross-wise
on the car. AHM made a plastic model of same & I believe Ambroid a wood kit
many yrs ago?
Gerald,
The St. Joseph Water Company was the name of the water utility in St. Joseph
for many, many years. It is now Missouri-American Water. The St Joseph Water
Works is along the east bank of the Missouri River north of St Joseph. There is
a picture of a CB&Q train at "Water Works" in Mike Spoor's CB&Q Volume 3.
So I would suspect water treatment products were shipped in rather than water
being shipped out. Amazonia is just north of St. Joe.
