Judging by the photos I've seen, most of the Q equipment went to the 
Pasco/Spokane WA (GP35/GP40) or Montana (GE C boats) areas after the merger.
 
As a side note I was just at the University of Washington archives reviewing 
papers from the Brock Adams collection (WA state Representative/President Jimmy 
Carter's Secretary of Transportation) and found a number of documents relating 
to him pushing the Department of Justice to review the ICC's approval of the BN 
merger in 1968. Seems like the city of Auburn (big NP shop town - south of 
Seattle) made a big stink about the merger well into the mid-seventies.
He was big on the formation Conrail, not so much on the BN.
 
Just more useless information....after all, it's just electrons!
