I did run across the Fall-Winter 92-93 JMC Model Railroad Order Book which
lists the following information about the Con-Cor HO Airslide Cars:
"Con-Cor introduced their new Airslide car kits in the fall of 1992. Not one,
but TWO different Airslide kits were released...the 9700 series are the
original style with the diagonal end braces. The 9750 series is the later
style with the added triangular end panels. In some cases both styles are
offered in the same roadnames, but in two different paint schemes, one early
version and one later version."
ATSF, PRR, SP , WM, Revere Sugar, Firestone Tire, Canadian Donut, Brach's
Candy, Atlantic Sugar, Bond Baking, Diamond Chemical, American Chemical,
Burlington Route (0001-009713) NKP, Conrail, and N&W were the roadnames listed
at this time. The -3 designation that Scott mentions on his orginal posting
on the stock number would indicate the 3rd Roadnumber available in that
Roadname and Paint Scheme.
I don't know if the the tooling was new to Con-Cor or inherited from someone
else. They did get the former AHM PS-2 Covered Hopper tooling that came
through
another company but as this was after the move to Tucson it may have been
tooled there from scratch.
