Thread-topic: [CBQ] Commercial Post - Con-Cor CB&Q Airslides
I have a Con-Cor Airslide hopper car, CB&Q #87543. I wonder if it is
this original car kit, as it certainly looks similar to the picture on
their website. I still have the box, which has an item number of
0001-009713-3 and is about a foot-and-a-half long. Unfortunately, the
assembly instructions have no date on them. Looking at the car last
night, its not a bad looking car, and appears similar in quality to the
covered hoppers (PS2 I think they were?) made by Con-Cor as a BRHS
project.

        Dave-
I wasn't nit-picking your choice of words.... even Con-Cor's use
of "return" is correct in concept only..... yes, they did have an HO
Airslide... but
the research material used as the basis for the two and maybe
catalog descriptions of the paint schemes would be about the only
commonality between them!!!

My apologies...I should have used the word Return as Con-Cor
does on their
web page. Thanks for your clarification.

        Dave-
The Con-Cor Airslide is hardly a "rerun" of their original car.
The Airslide was young Jim Conway's entry into the Model
Railroad Industry
(IIRC... there was also a USRA boxcar kit that might have
predated it).
The car was a very basic kit of many parts and was done when Jim
was still
        in his teens....
The new car is based on his research materials obtained from
GATX at the
time when the cars were still relatively new and is going to be
brand
new state of the art injection molded plastic.
