Cameron Jct was a shared depot, with the Q on the south side and RI on the
north. The picture indeed is shot towards the northwest. RI and CB&Q had
seperate depots in town as well, both to the east. The water tower in the
distance, to the west, would appear to be at the RI roundhouse. Rock Island
used the CB&Q line from Cameron Jct to KC until it built its seperate line in
1930.

Re:: Cameron Junction photos
Very nice photo. I take it that the view is from the east of the
depot looking west. I see a water tower in the background. Does
anyone know whether that water tower was on the Burlington or was it
on the Rock Island? Also, did the Rock Island come onto the
Burlington trackage east or west of Cameron Junction? Also, was
Cameron Junction a separate depot from the CB & Q. depot in Cameron
during those years? Was it a separate depot from the Rock Island
Depot in Cameron? Did both railroads jointly own this station?
Please correct me if I am wrong but I am under the impression that
Rock Island passenger trains fromn Chicago to Kansas City and beyond
used Burlington trackage from Cameron Junction to somewhere near
Excelsior Springs. If so, then that CB&Q line would have hosted the
Rock Island-Southern Pacific passenger trains between Chicago and
Los Angeles, e.g., The Golden State Ltd. Anyone know the details?
