Latest rumors are a straight high bridge with the shops torn down and new yard
built there. Every thing downtown except the old RI main will be gone. The
Rock Island Main will become the north end of the K Line to get to the
relocated Main

The Burlington bridge has long been a problem for barge shipping.
Back in 2001 Dave Lotz posted an email about BNSF seeking a bid for
replacing the swing section with a lift section.

Has anyone heard anything more on this?
