I believe the Milwaukee historical group had an issue of their publication on
Savanna which had aerial pictures which included some Q facilities.

  Paul:

I think I can help out with both Savanna and Oregon, but give me a few
  days. I am modeling both.

There was an excellent insert in a Zephyr on Oregon, complete with
very good track plans and info on all the industries. There was a
regular local from Eola that dropped off cars in Oregon. Oregon had
its own locomotive assigned - an SW/NW in the early years (probably
your time frame) and then a GP7 later on. There is a branch line to
Mt. Morris serving a large printing plant, so there were always plenty
of boxcars at Oregon with paper going to Mt. Morris and RPO, baggage
cars, and converted troop sleepers for the many magazines and catalogs
  coming from the printery.

Just west of Oregon is the Unimen silica plant. Sand was shipped out
in both covered hoppers (small two-bay like HC-1's), and boxcars
(bagged material). It was a very place. There was also a large
carnation plant with sidings right off the main in Oregon.

In regard to Savanna, which track are you referring to when you
mention the interchange track? I am trying to get some aerial photos
that I understand may exist of the yard area from back in the 60's. If
so, I will make them available to the group.

I suggest you do a search in the Yahoo group archive on Oregon and Mt.
Morris as there were many threads on operations there recently. Also,
the Spring meet this year is in Oregon. You probably want to plan on
attending if you are modeling the area.

What types of traffic and volumes were there? Also, how frequently
did CN&W run trains over the Rochelle to Rockford lines? What were
the compositions & sizes of those trains? I am being to ambitious to
  worry about this?
