Hi to the group... My name is Carl and I am only now (well, three weeks ago)
getting into
the Hobby of Model Railroading....
I chose to model after the CB&Q, mainly because of the activity here, and I
like the
History of the road itself, and the route(s) it took...
I am in the process of building my first piece of benchwork and have recently
accumulated a few pieces of track (Peco 83) and a couple of SW7 engines and
some
cars... I guess I am putting the cart before the horse, but I do that sometimes
ha ha....
I have been trying to find a good book whereas I can study the CB&Q route and
perhaps
build a model of sorts.... I have checked into the Historical Society and
trying to spend
some time on their web site to learn what I can.... As I live near Rockford,
Illinois, I had
in mind to build something along that route to LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and or in
between....
I am open and welcome any help, suggestions, comments, or whatever, as I am
very new
to this hobby and want to build a layout that I will enjoy for years to come...
I have a quick question... I recently read on this forum about a "Spring Meet"
in Oregon,
Ill... Could someone kindly explain what that is about ??? By the Way, I have
been
monitoring this forum for a few weeks now, in hopes of learning what I can and
possibly
share something to the Group in the future...
Thank you for any response....
carl
