Duncan,
Since you are focusing on 1962/63 Hubinger and the Corn Syrup industry would
have been using riveted and welded class 103 and 104w cars of 8 and 10K
capacity cars that had interior coils and may or may not have been insulated
as
the development of exterior coils didn't really take off until the early to
mid 60's. The IXC's and class 111A didn't take over the industry until into the
60s.
So yes 103W and104w would have dominated their fleet at that time.
I did find one picture in the ACF book of SHPX 24460,a 8K, int. coiled, non
insulated, 103W leased to Union Starch that was built in 1961. Union Starch
made "Quality Products from Corn". It's a welded tank on a full underframe.
This
is another key to this time period as stub sill cars were just being built.
I have a source document in my archives that may provide specific info. I'll
contact you off list with what I find.
Leo
Ps- Not sure when Hubinger became a UTLX customer but I do remember them
leasing many cars.
