There may be persons somewhere who know less about livestock and related
matters than I, but it would require quite a search to find them
I have no idea what was in those stock cars...only that they were some kind of
animals.
Some of the shipments may have been destined for the Omaha stockyards, still
very active at that time, and others probably were bound for Chicago....They,
no doubt, were all scheduled for feed, wate and rest at Lincoln.
You mentioned BB 25...that's probably the one I recall which had quite a
dissertation regarding livestock movements on the Q.

Do you recall if these August and later stock trains occupants were feeder
calves headed for the Midwest farms and feedlots or were they adults headed for
the slaughter houses ? If feeders the train would most likely get broken
into blocks the farther east it moved and cars added to other trains for
deliverying to the various feedlot locations. This would explain Pauls
understanding
here much farther east.
