Pete, I had the unpleasant opportunity to experience "blowoff" once. I grew up in Chicago not to far from the C&NW's north main line(s). I was walking home from the YMCA and was up on the right away. I was crossing a viaduct and was getting close to the north end when I heard a train behind me. I stepped off on to the abutment when the engine passed, the engineer opened the "blowoff" and gave be a good dose of steam. That taught me a lesson. I waked on the sidewalk from then on with the exception of putting pennies on the rail. Lenny [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo!
