"Dinky" is the CB&Q term for Chicago area commuter trains as well.
I also heard the C&NW term "Scoot" extended to their shop train that went from 
Clinton, IA to Fulton, IL for the workers.... from a gentleman who passed away 
a few years ago at the age of 99 whose relatives worked there and used the 
train when he was a young lad.  
Each of the Chicago railroads had their own terms for such service...
