Hello
I am a new member of this group and I am seeking information on the
single-track mainline between Aurora and Savanna by way of Big Rock,
Shabbona and Oregon IL.
1. What were the District and Division names for this mainline?
2. I have been told that CB&Q operated several passenger trains
between Chicago and Twin Cities over this line. Could someone confirm
this and advise when last passenger trains operated on this line?
3. Was there a control tower at CB&Q / CNW diamond at NX Crossing,
west of Rochelle, at one time?
4. Are there any books or magazine articles that provide photos /
operations / history of this line?
