Maybe somebody that has direct knowledge of this can chime in, but I believe
all the CB&Q passenger carrying Budd cars built after the war were equpped
with the same wiring for the PA system as the California Zephyr, so the
placement of "odd" CB&Q DZ, TCZ, ARZ, or KCS cars in the CZ in front of the
dome obvs was for convenience or space assignment reasons and not to
mitigate the interuption of the audio system as was the case with "foreign"
equipment or prewar CB&Q equipment.
