I have an Athearn 2-8-2 and model the C&S. Since there seems to be
more "late 50's" references to 4978 than the original C&S 800 series
maybe 4978 would be a better choice. Has anyone made this conversion?
Any pointers? Are there diagrams, other than "Steam Loco.. of the
Burlington" book? I just would like to have some these things nailed
down before attempting this project. I converted a Broadway Hvy to C&S
805 and after starting ordered, on the suggestion of this talk group,
the Railmodel Journal that covered that conversion. Now that the model
is complete, is see ways, that I could have made model better. Just
hoping to avoid some of the pitfall I encountered on the first model!
