Train 21, westbound Morniing Zephyr, and train 24, eastbound Afternoon Zephyr
stopped at Chestnut Mountain in later years. Most of the shippers/receivers
in Savanna along First Street were served by the Milwaukee Road, originally
Racine & Mississippi, then the Western Union Railroad. The Q may have served
the one or two lumber yards there, but it was not in "modern" times (1950s to
present). Industry was sparse in Savanna. There was a lumber yard east of
town, and of course they interchanged with the Army-run private railroad at
Savanna Ordnance Depot. JN
