There is another reason I forgot to mention, with all "cab" units or motors
as they were called on the Q, the railroad would check the mileage on all the
E's thus placing them into Suburban Service to equal out the mileage between
the motors. You could for example ride behind 9988B on the Denver Zephyr into
Chicago in the morning and then ride behind that same motor on your home bound
Dinky.
