Greetings List
In Ron Zeil's "The Twilight of Steam Locomotives" (Grossett & Dunlap, New
York, 1963) he writes, "Northwestern operates eight ex-Grand Trunk Western
0-8-0
switchers which were pulled out of the scrap line. Burlington oscillating
lamps were installed on the brows of these shifters."
If the rumored 01-a conversions to 0-8-0 are just that, rumors, perhaps this
contributed to the confusion as well.
Also, I have a Brownie snapshot of an 0-6-0 grabbed as we drove by
Northwestern Steel & Wire when I was a kid ca. 1964. Guess I'll need to dig
it out to
see if it's one of the G-5s.
Regards,
Bill Diven
