According to the Randall book "From Zephyr to Amtrak" GN bought 4 River
series Observation Cars. #1190 Mississippi River, #1191 Missouri River, #1192
Flathead River, and #1193 Kootenai River. With the Burlington #1194 Marias
River.These were built for the 1947 Empire Builder, from the book it appears as

train sets were used in 1947.
Additional cars were built in 1950 including #1197 Priest River, 2 Bedroom,1
Drawing Room, Observation Buffet Lounge.
