My Friends,
I just received the sad news that Wayne Beever, retired Palmyra, Missouri
station agent, has passed away. Wayne was the veteran of over 40 years of
service to the CB&Q and BN. He was a railroader, a teacher and a dear friend.
I have always said that Wayne has forgotten more about railroading than I will
ever know.
We were currently making plans for volunteering at the Fort Madison, Farmington
& Western Railroad Days in September; Wayne would don his agent's cap and set
up a small telegraph display in the depot.
Services are pending at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
Wayne was like a second father to me and it is because of him that I became a
fan of the CB&Q. So many happy times, so many happy memories. He will
definitely be missed.
Respectfully,
John Lewis
