Can anyone assist Jim with his research? I've already pointed him to Bulletin
#17 for the office cars query but perhaps someone can offer other suggestions.
Please include Jim's e-mail address jlhayes@cpinternet.net in any response.

Mr. Gamlen,

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Jim Hayes, and I am a fifth
generation, former employee of the CB&Q RR (BN RR and BNSF RY).

At present, I am doing research with respect to a number of special excursion
trains operated during the time frame of 1868-1888.

There are four pieces I am researching:

1. "Special Train for the President of the US", (Presidential Inaugural train
for President McKinley) operated on 'Burlington Route', KC, St. Joseph and
Council Bluffs RR, from Kansas City, MO to Omaha, NE on October 12, 1887.

2. "Presidents Train" (President Inaugural train for President Rutherford
Hayes) operated on the CB&Q RR, from Chicago, IL to Hannibal, MO, departing
Chicago on Sept. 23, 1879 and arriving Hannibal on Sept. 24, 1879.

3. "Special Excursion, Grand Duke Imperial Highness Alexis" (Grand Duke of
Russia) operated on 'Burlington Route', KC, St. Joseph and Council Bluffs RR,
from Kansas City, MO to Missouri River RR on Jan. 12, 1872.

4. Pictures of CB&Q, Business Car, Burlington, and/or Business Car 92, circa
1890-1920.

With respect to all the aforementioned, anything and everything, joking, yet
serious. Any information: newspaper articles, photos of any of the trains or
business cars (exterior/interior), manufacturer of business cars, history of
use, .......... Any help, suggestions or information is welcomed in this
research effort.

To share a piece of history found early in the research of the above, there is
a published, 13 page article describing the "Special Excursion" trip across the
West for 10-12 days of hunting. The article was published in Cosmopolitan
Magazine, June, 1894, the article is authored by Buffalo Bill Cody, who had
acted as the lead scout for all the hunting. The list of the travelling party
is a Who's Who of the American West.

Thank you for your time and assistance,

Jim Hayes
Minnesota
